Today we took a TOTAL detour and did nothing that we planned. I noticed late last night and early this morning that Charlie was really licking her paws a lot. Upon further investigation her paw pads looked fine, but it was kind of irritated inside her paws. I thought a morning of hiking probably wasn't the best for them today. The vet said to just monitor and soak it and rest it. So we did that today. She didn't really mess with them all day, so I think she's fine for Grand Canyon tomorrow.
Instead of Zion, we took off early to head to the Grand Canyon via Las Vegas and the Hoover Dam. It was a little further, but we had the time. Hoover Dam was a total bust for all of us. Not only did they not allow dogs at the view point, but it was 105 degrees outside, so I couldn't really leave them in the car and check it out myself. Oh well. It was worth a shot!
R&C weren't too disappointed and just cuddled up for the rest of the trip.
Mid afternoon we arrived at our destination for our stay near the Grand Canyon. Under Canvas Grand Canyon | Upscale Outdoor Resort
It's super cute, kind of remote and really amazing. R&C were excited upon arrival, and I'm sure they are going to make a lot of friends here.
This is our home for the next three days!
Once inside R&C made themselves immediately right at home.
We got all settled and then took a little nap before exploring the property. By "we" I mean Rhino.
The campus is really pretty and they seem to have thought of everything. They have games, fire pits, smores, activities, restaurant, bar, and live music. And this was just our first night!
We had a really yummy dinner outside.
After dinner we enjoyed the fire pit and some s'mores. Charlie wasn't too sure about the fire, but Rhino was all in as long as he could have graham crackers.
Then up to the Zen Garden to watch a beautiful sunset.
It was a bit cool and windy tonight so live music was inside. Rhino was diggin' it.
Meanwhile Charlie somehow beat me at Tic Tac Toe while lying down.
We can't wait to experience the Grand Canyon tomorrow!!
