Car Entertainment - 9+ hours in the car of just straight highway!
- Started catching up on The Daily podcast with some light topics like gun control, the war in Ukraine and economic inflation.
- Then switched to pure silliness with Conan O'Brian Needs a Friend with a special live podcast and guest Bill Hader.
- Conan was a good warm up for starting the audio book Lamb by Christopher Moore. Belly laugh outloud funny and really clever. Thank you Proton for the suggestion! This book is written from the perspective of Biff, Jesus's BFF and captures what happens between the time he's born and is 33 when we know him as Jesus.
We got an early start this morning before 9AM and hit the highway to Boulder! This will be the longest single car ride of our journey and I think we could all use a rest day.
$112.76 spent on gas today!
The great thing about traveling on Interstate 70 is all the rest stops that have dog parks! We stopped at three of them!
The first one was really more of an RV park and later I realized that I turned too early and it actually wasn't a dog park. LOL. Still, R&C got to meet some ducks! Their tails are on point!!
Next stop really was a roadside dog park and we were the only ones there so they got to have full zoomie puppy play time.
The third stop was at the Oasis in Colby, KS. This rest stop had EVERYTHING! The usual stuff, plus a Starbucks, playground, dog park, palm trees and Tesla charging stations! There were lots of other dogs at this park too.
After a beautiful drive through Boulder Canyon along Boulder Creek we made it to our hotel in Nederland. Nederland is a small cute mountain town with a ton a walkable shops and restaurants. It was 66 degrees when we arrived. Perfect for R&C after our hot day yesterday.
We took a walk first thing when we got here and explored the town and the trail right outside our lodge room. The building in the red circle is where we are staying.
The trail outside the room runs along Boulder Creek and into Barker Reservoir. It's really beautiful and R&C loved the water and all the new smells!
Shocker - Rhino immediately got into the reservoir and started drinking all the water.
Time to make a plan for tomorrow!
